That was officially the worst performance I've ever seen. And I'm glad to say that my expectations weren't at all shattered. My brother left once he realized that none of the lyrics were going to be the least bit understandable.

"Ungghhssshhhaaaa livva dun be donnn be dooon ga woman."

-Bob Dylan

Ugly as all shit, and cold as a 'one' on stage (HSR fans... SB, anyone?), it was like watching a great jazz/country/rock/blues band who, for some inexplicable reason, was forced to tour with the drummer's retarded half-brother.

You may think Avril disgraced a good song, but you haven't heard "knockin' on heavens door" butchered until you've heard it sung by Bob Dylan.

It takes someone pretty special to truly and utterly botch a "cover" of his own song. And by special, once again, I mean retarded half-brother.

Not that he actually played "knockin' on heavens door." At least, I don't think he played it. I'm not really sure. It was halfway through "The times the are a changin'" before I realized I'd ever heard the song before. And even then I wasn't sure.

So please don't ask what his setlist was. I don't even think he knows.

And fuck, he didn't even play guitar.

It was more or less the musical equivalent of a Stephen Hawking poetry reading.

He does however have one thing still going for him: he can breathe. And when being alive is a good enough reason to charge thousands of people $70 a piece to watch you mumble incoherently about gum and the wind... well, then you must've accomplished something pretty special at some point in your life.

But iconic quality aside... I slept through a good twenty minutes of his hour and a half long set.

Bob Dylan sucks. I've been saying this for years. Even as a sperm in my father's scrotum I've been saying this to other sperms, but nobody believes me until they go to his concerts and witness his soul-deadening vocals.

But it's good you got in an Avril dig, there.

haha, I'm not! I mean, despite the slam I gave his performance, I enjoyed every second of it. And I definitely have no regrets about going.

I mean, it's Bob Dylan for shuck sakes

I fell asleep on the railing in front of me after a failed attempt to get up and dance to the "music", when I awoke I realized ppl were clapping for an encore... Thats when I realized the best part of the show was the 'idea' behind it and the pretty set they had. I am disappointed and very happy I got in for free... Though I must admitt Bobby gave me the motivation to get very drunk.

hey nico,
the subterrianian homesick blues would have been incredible sung without a guitar. ezpecially when he holds the word 'steal' at the end of the lyric before going into the chorus.
how does it feel?
i would offer dissapointment condolances but you seem fine, and that eye is eye is extremely distracting/disturbing. i have to say that i am adoring the idea of having grass framing my eye.
person who's picture i am responding to,
your icon is really addictive and you sould really make it a desktop screensaver.

Just thought I'd see what people had to say about Bobby D...

I think it was popular opinion that the concert sucked. People were disappointed by his lack of singing, his neglect of "old favorites" and his untouched guitar sitting not even 3 feet away from him. I think $70 for a sub-par 2 hour long set (encore included) is a huge rip off. (Fortunately I set up the concert so I didn't have to pay.) However, despite the less-than-expected quality of the show, it was still Bob Dylan. The chance to see him doesn't come along very often.
